Learn More About Thickwood

Thickwood is one of the largest communities in Fort McMurray, with a population of 17,300. It is located north of the Athabasca River. Thickwood Heights has 14 subdivisions, which include Signal Road, Westview, and Ross Haven, among others.

This community was formed in the 1970s and has now become the second largest community in Fort McMurray. It is minutes away from the main highway, Highway 63.

Thickwood is a popular neighbourhood with well-maintained gardens, huge trees, and attractive green spaces. It has over 6,400 homes. There are a variety of home styles in Thickwood, such as single family homes, two-storey homes, bungalows, townhomes and condominiums, which is great for those who are looking options to choose from.

There are several schools in the community like the Thickwood Heights School, Frank Spragins High School, Westview Public School, Ecole St. Paul School, St. Gabriel School, Father Patrick Mercredi Community School, Fort McMurray Christian School, and Westwood Community High School. The community also offers plenty of amenities including retail, parks, services and churches. There are also many restaurants along Thickwood Boulevard: most notably a Tim Hortons and Dairy Queen.
