Cedars Bakery and Restaurant at The River Station

Cedars Bakery and Restaurant offers Fort McMurray residents a one-of-a-kind, Lebanese cuisine eatery with a variety of meats, nuts, signature coffee, and tobacco products.

Located at 51-8102 Fraser Avenue, Cedars opened in July 2015 to become a part of the group of local residential and commercial businesses situated downtown in the Waterfront Business District.

The District has become home to The River Station project, which was first launched in 2013 by LIAM Construction Ltd. The project’s purpose was initiated to create an urban center hub in a railway-style setting.

According to LIAMfirst.com, the River Station project brings the location’s past to the present as it is “rich with history and historical significance.” It’s, here, where the railway once met the barges that came to the region in 1942.

Today, the neighbourhood includes Townhall Public House, Crossfit Crude, Pizza Hut, Eat Clean Health Grill & Juice Bar, Northern Spectrum Tattoo Studio, Avenue Coffee, the River Station Suites and – of course – Cedars Bakery and Restaurant.

Inside Cedars, guests can shop at the bakery or the mini-grocery store or sit down for a dining experience - even order their dishes to go. The menu features dishes for any time of the day with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. And, online orders are available.

If you enjoy shawarma and falafels, check out the Cedars’ Facebook page. Guests are raving about their menu items and giving the chefs and employees 5-star reviews.

“We just had Cedar’s delivered to us and it is so good,” one guest said. “The amount of food. The price is reasonable. It’s healthy and everything was perfectly flavoured. I must say the hummus is incredible”

Their overall rating on Facebook is 4.9 out of 5 based on the opinion of 135 people. Feedback on their generosity, exceptional customer service, and community philanthropy was also highlighted by guests. One said, “Went into Cedars to have a look (and the) employee behind the counter could tell we were not familiar with many of the foods served there. He went into the kitchen and brought us out a plate of chicken and beef shawarma to try and didn’t charge us.”

Another guest came in looking for specific food products for charity and ended up receiving donations.

“I went there to buy items to put in a gift box for a Muslim family that our church sponsored. I went there and told them what I was looking for and they were very friendly and donated lots of extras for the food box I was donating,” she stated.

Catering is available. Check out the menu and price list on their website. Catering dishes include; hummus, rosemary chicken legs, roast beef, mashed potatoes, pasta salad, chicken and beef shawarma, and much more.
