By The A-Team | Jun 17, 2019 | Fort McMurray - Community Events

Fort McMurray brings you all the best activities and events for both kids and adults and they are just around the corner. Here are some of the latest happenings set to take place over the next two weeks.

On June 25, the Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation is holding a one-day digital marketing conference for business owners:

Social School Fort McMurray

This event is a full-day multi-part workshop-style conference that will focus on using social media for business, forming a seamless digital strategy for smart, effective social media activation and best practices and processes for bringing it to life across all platforms – everything from creation and scheduling content to capturing incredible photography, to community engagement, content optimizing and user-generated content and campaigns. via eventbrite.ca
The event takes place at the Shell Place from 9 AM to 4 PM. Email marketing, paid advertising, and social media will be just some of the topics covered.

The conference, valued at $145, is offered free to participants through the auspices of the Canadian Red Cross and donations received from the 2016 Horse River Wild Fire. You are required to and can register for the event by clicking here.

The annual Métis festival is here again. This is the “most celebratory day of the calendar year for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit across Canada:"

10th Annual Métis Festival

The McMurray Métis will hold its 10th annual Métis Festival on Friday June 21, the summer solstice, coinciding with National Indigenous Peoples Day.

In previous years, Métis Festival was held earlier in the Spring, however the Board of Directors of the McMurray Métis decided to move its Métis Festival to National Indigenous Peoples Day.

All residents of Fort McMurray, Indigenous or non, are welcome to attend our event from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on June 21, 2019, on our Métis grounds at 441 Sakitawaw Trail. -via mcmurraymetis.org

The event is usually held in the spring each year. But this year’s event, the 10th in the series, was shifted to summer this year by the Board of Directors of McMurray Métis to coincide with the National Indigenous People Day. The full-day event takes place at the Métis Grounds at 441 Sakitawaw Trail. All indigenous and non-indigenous residents of McMurray are invited to attend.
