Stonecreek Highlights: Starbucks in Stonecreek Village

A Look at Starbucks Stonecreek

Whether it’s a latte, caramel macchiato, blonde espresso… or a tall cup of Pike Place Roast, there are many reasons people step into a Starbucks coffeehouse. However, the franchise - on top of the Timberlea hill at 112 Riverstone Ridge - brings a unique experience to its customers from morning to night.

Found on the corner of Confederation Way and Prospect Drive, it’s situated in the middle of the Stonecreek Village, which was developed by Melcor Developments Ltd. in 2014.

During the day, the outside of the shop is busied by gym enthusiasts from GYM Nation and disc jockeys from Mix 103.7. At night, pub goers liven up the area from the Canadian Brewhouse and if you’re out during a full moon, chances are you’ll run into a volunteer astronomer from the newly formed Fort McMurray Street Astronomers.

In the early mornings, this particular location is the frequent meeting place for YMM Free Fit. This is a fitness group who meets every Wednesday at 5:30 a.m. to work out among the elements. They call themselves “weather proof” because they exercise in the rain, snow, hail and sun. It’s free for anyone to join, they just have to show up. (The group posts frequent updates on their Facebook page).

During the Starbucks morning rush, residents flock inside using the very popular mobile order app. The Stonecreek location was one of the first coffee places in Fort McMurray to introduce this option – which is convenient but is also a hit or miss because sometimes the in-person order line is shorter. Customers understand the popularity and are usually prepared for the wait.

The friendly baristas also make it an enjoyable experience, as reviews showcase guests boasting their “fantastic services” and great attempts to bring out their best smiles.

Like all Starbucks, the exterior and interior stay true to the Seattle-based coffeehouse brand. This particular one is smaller in size with tiny tables, stools and benches. This gives it an intimate and cozy feel. It’s perfect for one-on-one business meetings and for those customers who want to sit on their own and window-watch residents running errands throughout the other mixed-lifestyle establishments.

And now with spring in full swing, locals are taking advantage of the outdoor patio, which creates more space for families and friends gathering to enjoy their Frappuccino favourites.

If you’re looking for a spot to relax and meet with colleagues and business associates – the Stonecreek Starbucks delivers. And if you’re on your own - and had enough of the free WIFI, there’s plenty of action taking place in this busy public space to sit back and watch.

Stonecreek’s Starbucks is opened daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday to Friday, and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
