The local community will be hosting the “Unveiling of Memorial Tree” on May 5 at 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Everyone is requested to gather at the Downtown Community Garden, 9903 Fraser Ave, Fort McMurray, AB, Canada. This is an important and sentimental event for the community especially the family, friends, and relatives of those who were affected by one of the most drastic wildfires in the history of the local community.
Unveiling of Memorial Tree
Join us in the unveiling of a 7ft metal tree sculpture to commemorate the 2016 wildfire in the Wood Buffalo Region. All community members are encouraged to bring a key as a symbol of their loss. Keys may be placed inside the trunk of the tree as a tribute to recognize that loss.
The tree will remain at the Downtown Community Garden to commemorate the 2016 wildfire.
