Downtown & Timberlea Highlights

Spring Moon brings traditional Japanese entrees and tantalizing tastes to its Fort McMurray guests at two different locations downtown and in Timberlea.

First established in 2012, the Eagle Ridge location at 180-151 Loutit Road in Timberlea offers a larger guest capacity with booths and barstool seating options. When patrons first walk in, they will see a sushi bar where guests can sit and enjoy watching the chef make meals.

On Google Reviews, the restaurant receives a 4.1 out of five stars status from 128 guest reviews.

“Great service & the food is absolutely amazing. After coming here for a few weeks, I asked the chef what he recommended… every single time he’s been spot-on and has amazed me! I come here once a week and love it,” Isa Villegas, a Spring Moon customer, wrote on his review.

He also shared six photos of different dishes and further stated: “the Thai curry from next door is also really good, both are owned by the same owner.”

The 103-8528 Manning Avenue downtown location is beside Cora Restaurant. This location is favoured by guests due to the private rooms available which make it an ideal spot to host a team meeting with colleagues or an intimate celebration with friends. The Private Party Room has seating available for 20-25 people.

On Spring Moon’s unofficial Facebook page, the restaurant receives a 3.6 out of five based on the opinion of 71 people.

A five-star review by Martha Ahumada-Parra said Spring Moon was her choice for sushi over all the other places available in Fort McMurray.

Spring Moon states on its website that they “have a passion in serving and satisfying our guests with an exceptional dining experience in our authentic Japanese cuisine.”

Traditional Japanese dining features a presentation of different colours and textures and food is arranged in a special manner.

Though it’s not mandatory, it’s customary to eat dishes in a particular manner. One well-known example of this is using chopsticks, instead of a knife and fork.

According to The Spruce Eats, an online food and nutrition website, it further mentions how some may be surprised to learn that “it is customary to eat miso soup, also known as “miso shiru” in Japanese, with chopsticks.”

As for Spring Moon’s menu, there are a variety of lists and specials to choose from with rice bowls, sushi combos, sushi trays, bento boxes and much more.

Guests looking for The Chef’s Special will find menu options like the Deep Fry Spicy Tuna Roll, Gomaae Roll, Okonomiyaki and many others.

The full menu is available online and guests can dine-in, take-out or Skip the Dishes. To learn more, visit www.dineatspringmoon.com and call 780-750-3535 and 780-790-6628 in Timberlea or downtown at 587-275-1818 and 587-275-2828.
