Jaguar Lounge brings comfort and charm to Dickinsfield nightlife

The Jaguar Lounge is a hidden nightlife favourite for those looking to enjoy a night out in a lowkey atmosphere with a Cheers-like-setting.

Located at 142 Dickins Drive, the Lounge has been serving its Dickinsfield neighbours and the community for over a decade.

It entertains the night crowd with regular live music and features weekly drink specials like the $5 Tom Collins Fridays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

As for the atmosphere, it’s one of Fort McMurray’s smaller hangouts with high-top tables and limited seating but brings in the comfort with casual charm.

The Jag has featured a list of local talent including musicians and comedians. The Sports Rock Comedy Show with Cubb Carson, Bradley Karp and Erica Moeskau, The Wrath of Shaw, and Canada Day Celebrations with Stu Marchand have been a few to come through its doors.

Guitarist Danny Tulk has also been a regular for entertainment. Tulk performs acoustic rock and has made a well-known presence in the Fort McMurray community for his talent.

According to Tulk’s artist biography on www.reverbnation.com, he began playing guitar in bands at the age 16, which started on the East Coast of Newfoundland, and has since made “his home in Fort McMurray.”

Deuces Wild, a country, classic rock and East Coast band, is the next to perform live music at the Lounge on April 6 starting at 9 p.m.

The Lounge boasts for having Fort McMurray’s best Caesar and call it a “meal” because it’s loaded with all the best toppings. As for the menu, they serve hotdogs and smokies, and also allow guests to order food from the Pizza Experts next door.

In 2016, Jaguar Lounge space was used in a film production for the talent behind NERDVANA: The Web Series, which was locally produced and written to receive grants from Storyhive by Telus. The web series has received funding grants to help with the completion of the series.

On Jaguar Lounge’s Facebook page, it receives a 4.5 out of five-star status based out of 50 people.

“I enjoy my time at Jaguar Lounge,” Mark Daniels wrote in a review. “The staff is efficient and friendly. One favourite memory was seeing Jimmy Sheane play guitar while the bartender, Amanda sang: ‘Dock on the Bay.’ Awesome!”

Noel Dickie also commented on the Jag’s Facebook page stating it has a great, friendly atmosphere.

“I’ve been coming to this bar for two years and I cannot say enough about the staff. Prompt service, great attitude, friendly vibe, good times, great friends and the small town feel you need to get away from the oil town. I love this bar. Always go back. Free popcorn is a bonus.”

If you’re looking for a spot to relax and meet with friends and neighbours – Jag’s is the go-to. And if you’re on your own, the staff is welcoming and friendly enough to pull up a stool to the bar.

Jaguar Lounge is opened daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. For more information on drink specials and themed nights, go to their Facebook page @jaguarlounge.
